Grange, others urge full funding of stress assistance programs for farmers

On March 25, the National Grange and nearly 50 other ag groups sent a letter to the Senate Appropriations Committee urging the full funding of the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network.
As part of the letter, the groups noted that, “…farming is a high stress occupation. Financial risks, volatile markets, unpredictable weather, and heavy workloads strain farmers’, ranchers’ and farm workers’ emotional well-being. To make matters worse, 60% off rural residents live in areas that suffer from mental health professional shortages.”
