$10k and $25k grants available to rural school districts

Monsanto Fund, the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Co., has started America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education to aid rural school districts with $10,000 and $25,000 grants in 1,245 counties across 39 states.

“We believe our rural communities are the heart of America,” Deborah Patterson, Monsanto Fund president, said in a release. “We want to help strengthen local communities and education systems, especially in the areas of science and/or math.”The Monsanto Fund has pledged to award 199 grants this year, 177 $10,000 grants and 22 for $25,000.

Grants will be awarded to competing schools based on merit, need and community support.

Grant applications are due by April 30.
