The North Carolina State Grange recently announced an opening for the position of NC State Grange Director of Legislative Affairs.The North Carolina State Grange Legislative Director is a full time, professional position for the right person with a strong interest in public policy issues affecting family farmers and rural North Carolinians.
The duties of the NC State Grange Legislative Director include:
- Lobbying in the NC General Assembly and in Congress, to represent NC State Grange legislative policy;
- Representing the NC State Grange in working liaison and coalition building relationships with the NC agricultural community including institutions, agencies, commodity groups, and other agricultural organizations;
- Managing the annual policy development process within the NC Grange organization and;
- Working with local Granges, by assisting the grassroots Grange chapters affiliated with the NC State Grange with their volunteer legislative efforts.
The Legislative Director will report directly to the NC State Grange President and carry out other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Expected in this Position
The Director of Legislative Affairs should have a Bachelor's Degree in an area of Agriculture, Political Science, Government Affairs, or comparable practical experience either in a government relations position or in a comparable position in public service. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate the ability to manage time, delegate tasks, implement directions and effectively promote a team-based work environment.
Salary and compensation is negotiable depending upon experience and background.
