USDA Forest Service is now seeking nominations to fill four positions on the National
Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (Council). If you are interested
in the positions, please send your nomination resume to chwang@nationalgrange.org
by 7/24 in order to let the National Grange consider nominating you for this position.
The National Grange currently intends to submit only one nomination for this Advisory
council. (Nomination applications should be received by USDA advisory committee
by 7/31.) The applications will include:

The
USDA Forest Service is seeking nominations to fill four positions on the National
Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (Council). The National Urban and
Community Forestry Advisory Council (Council) was established to advise the Secretary
of Agriculture on the national urban and community forestry program. The purpose
of the Council is specifically to: 1)
develop a national urban and community forestry action plan; 2)
evaluate the implementation of the plan; and 3)
develop criteria and annually make recommendations for funding the urban and community
forestry challenge cost-share program.
The positions will serve from January 1, 2004, through December 31, 2006. Individuals
currently serving on other USDA advisory councils or commissions are ineligible
to serve on this Council. Members of the Council serve without compensation and
can expect to dedicate approximately 100 hours on Council business per calendar

four positions asked for nominations are: -
Person representing a national non-profit forestry and conservation citizen organization
- Person representing
city/town government
-
Person representing academic institutions with expertise in urban and community
forestry activities

Person who is not an officer or employee of any governmental body residing in
a city with a population of less than 50,000 and has expertise and has been active
in urban and community forestry
