The
year 2002 was an extremely busy year for the National Grange Legislative Department.
The National Grange took direct action to participate in more than 100 separate
activities affecting family farmers and rural Americans. With your great participation
and hard work, the National Grange could be successful in affecting the decision
makings in Congress and several regulatory agencies such as; the defeat of the
satellite TV merger, the passage of "Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of
2002", the passage of H.R. 3009, "The Trade Act of 2002", the passage of energy
legislation by both Houses of Congress (HR. 4 and S. 517), the passage of HR 1543,
"The Broadband Freedom and Development Act, the passage of H.R. 4954, the "Medicare
Modernization and Prescription Drug Act of 2002", etc. The
108th Congress, a wholly Republican-controlled Congress, will convene on January
7, 2003. The following is the projected leadership in the 108th Congress.
