The
Proposed Merger of EchoStar and Hughes Is Reaching the Final Stages of the Regulatory
Process. It's Time to Take Another Action to Oppose the Merger!
Express Your Own Experiences on How the Competition in Satellite TV Market Works
for the Rural Community. National Grange will Collect All Your Stories and Forward
them to the Department of Justice. Please
Write or E-mail Your Stories to National Grange Legislative Department Right Now!
The
National Grange is now planning a story-writing campaign. Do you think competition
in satellite TV market is beneficial to the rural community? What's your specific
experience on it? Your writings would be precious resources to oppose the satellite
TV merger. They will be forwarded to the Justice Department as fruitful grassroots
activities. Over
23 million rural households have no access to cable television services. They
must depend entirely upon satellite TV, now being provided by the two companies;
EchoStar Communications Inc and Hughes Electronics Corporation. Each company offers
a competitive, alternative satellite TV and high speed satellite Internet service
for rural consumers. The merger will banish competition in the satellite services
industry. It will reduce the number of choices to one in most rural areas. Millions
of rural Americans are counting on the Grange to help protect them from a new
satellite TV/high-speed Internet monopoly. Please write or email to National Grange
to express your own experiences on how the competition in satellite TV market
works for the rural community. Action
