Great Lake Grange Leadership Conference
Minnesota, April 12-14, 2013
“Let’s Renew Your Grange”

Plan now to attend the GLLC in Minnesota!  At this conference, you will discover ways to add new life in your Grange!  There will be opportunities to meet new friends from Granges across the Midwest, as well as renew past friendships. Workshops will provide a variety of learning experiences.


The Community Service Project includes: A Work Day at the Minnesota Historical Society’s Oliver H. Kelley Farm! Those choosing to take part in the Service Project at the Oliver H. Kelley Farm, located near Elk River, MN will have fun working on various projects.  Indoor and outdoor projects may include painting, cleaning, window washing, hand & machine sewing, building/wood projects.

Accommodations:  Bring your own bedding and towels.  Accommodations are bunk beds or cots; overflow will have mattresses on the floor.  Grey Kock Center is on one level.

Silent Auction: Following the tradition of the white elephant item auction, we ask each person to bring an item wrapped in paper, ready to be placed on the auction table.  You are encouraged to bid often throughout the weekend!

Conference Fees: The registration is $90 for the weekend:  this includes lodging and food.

Workshop information: Each state lecturer will provide a workshop for the conference.  Several state lecturers will be given the option to work together or divide the time allowed:

Wisconsin & Iowa, Friday night, 8-8:45
Michigan, Saturday night, 7-7:45
Illinois & Indiana, Sunday (immediately following worship service) 45 minutes

 Let Evie know your workshop title as soon as known.

If a presenter needs electronic (power point, etc.), tell us as soon as possible. Power point presentations may be done at the end of the workday at the Kelley Farm….program times will be adjusted accordingly.

Handouts needed for the workshop is 60 per class.  (This number may be revised on April 2, 2013.)

Directions to camp:  Camp Elk River is a year-round destination located 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis. From Minneapolis/St. Paul, travel west on Interstate 94 to Rogers, exit Highway 101 toward Elk River where 101 becomes/joins Highway169.  Continue north on Highway 169 (following sign to Princeton) to Sherburne County Road 74.  Turn right (east) onto Sherburne County Road 74 and drive about 1 mile to gravel road. Follow gravel road past site manager’s home to the Grey Kock Conference Center.  [When coming from out of state or MSP Airport, some gps systems will direct you through downtowns Minneapolis and St. Paul.  I recommend you go around the Twin Cities either on Interstate 694 (on the north) or Interstate 494 (on the south). If you arrive in daylight, Camp Elk River is one and one half miles north of the large wind turbine.]  Get Directions

Coming from the north:  From Zimmerman, MN go south on 169 about 3-½ miles.  Turn left on Sherburne Co, Road 74. Get Directions

Friday night includes a snack bar.  Plan to eat your evening meal prior to arriving at the camp. (There are many fast food/restaurants on HWY 101 and 169 north of Elk River. Snacks will be provided throughout the weekend.
