Grange Forms Partnership With Local School
Pittsfield-Union

a partnership with Pittsfield Elementary School. In mid-December several Grange
members were invited to meet with the Pittsfield Elementary PTO at their regular
meeting. A discussion took place about the previously informal partnership including
a Math/Science Night at the school with teachers, parents, and Grangers working
together. Read more | | |
Where
Does Grange Hall Road Lead?
Until
five years ago, I'd have asked the same question. "Does Grange still exist?" Now
that I've worked with Grange Leadership Development in New York State and Action
Grange teams in 18 states, I know that not only does it exist, Grange has the
potential to build community at a time when our communities sorely need to be
built, to forge solid connections between people who feel increasingly isolated
in the social fabric of our country. Read

State Grange Comes to Aid of Tornado Victims
Wednesday evening, September
1, 2004, PA State Grange President Betsy Huber watched a news story on the local
news, WGAL TV Channel 8, that covered the story of the Brandt-view Farms, just
east of Campbelltown. The farm, operated by brothers Carl and Daniel Brandt, was
struck by the tornado, causing extensive damage to their dairy operation, injuring
family members and killing 6 of their cows. Immediately following the storm, hundreds
of volunteers helped around the farm cleaning up demolished buildings and assisting
with the rebuilding of many structures. Read

Grange Recruits Vermont Youths More
than just the brightly colored drawing of a garden bountiful with peas, beans,
corn and garlic went into the making of Siobhan Mendicino's second-place poster
at the Vermont State Grange exhibit at the Champlain Valley Exposition. The message
that Mendicino, 12, of Jericho is sending is finely printed on the yellow poster
board where it says the produce from the Community Grange Garden is donated to
the Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf. Read

Flats Grange Succeeds
Our community is rural/agricultural, with a population
of 600 in winter and close to 1500 in the summer, as lake-front owners move in.
Very few families actually make their entire living from agriculture. Unless properly
subdivided, land is usually sold as 10 or 20 acre parcels to retired couples or
to working couples with children. Read More | | |

succeed in our efforts, we first needed to assess our capabilities and resources
and identify those we could best exploit. Read
