Pittsfield-Union
Grange members, John Freeman and Linore Latham, have been working hard to formalize
a partnership with Pittsfield Elementary School. In mid-December several Grange
members were invited to meet with the Pittsfield Elementary PTO at their regular
meeting. A discussion took place about the previously informal partnership including
a Math/Science Night at the school with teachers, parents, and Grangers working
together.
Pittsfield-Union
Grange President, Robin Warner, gave a brief history of the Grange, mentioning
local involvement in programs such as Rural Education Days and the National Grange
supported "Words for Thirds" dictionary project. The
PTO supported formalizing the relationship with the Grange and the signing of
a certificate to that effect. There will be a brief signing ceremony planned for
mid-January and the partnership will become official. Pittsfield-Union
Grange is looking forward to working with Pittsfield Elementary School in developing
future programs, supporting their Fall Festival, and interacting to the benefit
of students, parents, teachers and Grangers alike. |
