National Grange Appoints New Legislative Consultant
WASHINGTON, May 4, 2006 – The National Grange today announced the appointment of Brenda J. Shambaugh as a legislative consultant. Shambaugh, who resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, brings more than 20 years of legislative and policy experience to the national organization.
“Mrs. Shambaugh’s 20-plus years of experience working at the Pennsylvania State Grange as their legislative director will provide the National Grange with additional legislative clout and expertise,” National Grange President William Steel said. “Having worked with Mrs. Shambaugh as the Pennsylvania State Grange President, I am thrilled to have her accept appointment of this newly-created legislative consultant position.”
As a legislative consultant, Shambaugh will be responsible for assisting the National Grange Legislative Department as they implement legislative initiatives, refine policy positions, write press releases and articles, and promote National Grange policies.
“Mrs. Shambaugh is well respected among Grange members and legislators and is already familiar with our grassroots issues,” Legislative Affairs Director Leroy Watson said. “The Pennsylvania State Grange has always maintained a premier legislative program, and now the National Grange will benefit from Mrs. Shambaugh’s Grange and government relations background.”
Commenting on her appointment, Shambaugh stated: “I am anxious to begin consulting for the National Grange. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work side-by-side with the National Grange Legislative Department on many issues. Now, I have the opportunity to provide further support to the organization, and I look forward to the many challenges that lie ahead.”
The National Grange is the nation’s oldest general farm and rural public affairs organization. Founded in 1867, the National Grange represents individuals Grange members affiliated with more than 2,800 local, county and state Grange chapters in farming and rural communities across the United States. |
