Washington,
May 25, 2004 - The
National Grange Legislative Department hosted its 7th annual Legislative Fly-In
on May 15 - May18, 2004 in Washington, D.C. More than 75 participants attended

with their U.S. senators and representatives. "We
are proud that we are able to give our members a unique, behind-the-scenes adventure
into politics," National Grange Master William A. Steel said. "We will continue
to provide our members with enough knowledge as possible about political processes
so that knowledge can better serve rural America." On
May 17th, Fly-In 2004 participants listened to a variety of guest speakers from
the government and the private sector regarding issues affecting U.S. agriculture
and rural America. Lecture topics included BSE, rural telecommunications, renewable
energy, environmental issues, Medicare and wind energy. Speakers included Forest
Harper, vice president for Pfizer's Share Card for Living Program. Harper reviewed
the recently adopted 2002 Farm Bill and discussed recent changes to Medicare.
