Grange
Delegates Elected New National Officers at the
Annual Convention in Burlington,
Vermont Washington,
November 25, 2003 - On Wednesday, November 12, 2003, the Grange Delegates
elected new National Officers at the National Grange's 137th Annual Convention
in Burlington, Vermont. The officers will serve a two-year term. William
(Bill) Steel became the 21st President of the National Grange, replacing Kermit
Richardson, who served in the position for 8 years before announcing on Monday,
November 10, 2003 that he would not seek a reelection after presenting his keynote
address. Terry Hunt, who is the Master of the Washington State Grange, will fill
Steel's former position as Overseer. Other
changes include: Phil Prelli of Connecticut will replace Gene Edelen of Idaho
as the National Treasurer, Jay Pfeiffer of Texas will replace Daniel Bascom of
New Hampshire as the National Gatekeeper, Nancy Swainston of Michigan will replace
Mary Hunt of Washington as the National Ceres and Peggy Fine of Oregon will replace
Marilyn Johnson as the National Flora. The
